Cobham are the earliest Champions!

Congratulations to Cobham FC whose 1-0 win at Redhill on Saturday has earned them the honour of becoming the first club in any of the top ten tiers of football to win their division title!

League Chairman Chris Conlon will be in attendance at the Reg Madgwick Stadium on Saturday 14th March to present the Premier Division South Trophy when Cobham’s final League match of the season will take place at home to Horley Town. The Champions are hoping for a gate of 500. Will you be one of them?

Cobham entered Senior football back in the 1937/38 season, when we were called the Surrey Senior League. They finished sixth in a fourteen team League that season and have remained ever-present since, although had never won the League title previously, with their highest position coming in 1998/99 when they were runners-up to Ash United. Clearly the transition to an artificial surface in 2023 has suited them well and no doubt provided a welcome boost to their finances too. They appear well set for a good run at their new, higher level and we will watch out for their results with interest.

Although no one can say with 100% certainty at this stage exactly which division at Step Four they will be promoted to, we wish them well in their adventure away from our League!
